It is with great sadness we announce the untimely passing of our beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, Papa, and friend on June 8th, 2024 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, surrounded by his family.

Ernie was born January 19th,1958, to the late Veronica and James Bailey.

A strong loving hardworking man, Ernie was a friend to all. A proud tradesman belonging to Local 244 Pipefitters Union, his job took him across the country, making many friends with his quick wit and humour. Ernie was very skilled at whatever he turned his hand at from woodworking to carpentry to cooking, and he took much pride in his well-kept lawn and yard.

Left to mourn Ernie’s passing are his wife and best friend, Brenda (Landry) Bailey; son, Ryan Bailey, Antigonish; daughter, Shalynn Bailey (Ryan Maclellan), Afton; grandkids, Braxton, Brayden, Parker, Alexis, and Dryden; brothers, Angus (Shelia), Ponds; Raymond, Brampton; Bernie (Valerie), Antigonish; Reggie (Kim), Afton; sisters, Annette (Phillip), Antigonish; Teresa, Airdrie; Lorainne (Rodger), Tracadie; Gina, Lower South River; and Margaret, Antigonish; father-in-law, Joe Landry, Afton; brothers-in-law, Francis (Kathy), Toronto; Victor (Alicia), Afton; Trevor, Halifax; Jonathan (Twyla), Antigonish; and sisters-in-law, Chantale DeCoste, Havre Boucher; and Dianne Bailey, Antigonish.

Predeceased By his parents; brothers, Carl and Sandy; mother-in-law, Ann Benoit; nephew, Dexter Gavin; and grand-nephews, James Delorey.

We take comfort in knowing that in the final weeks of Ernie’s life, he trusted Jesus Christ to be his Lord and Saviour and was baptized on his own faith two days before he passed.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place on Friday June 14th, 2024, at 11 am. Monsignor Donnelly Hall Tracadie. Burial in the Parish Cemetery.

Donations can be made to Cathy’s Place.  Family Flowers Only Please.

At this time the family would like to Thank the staff at St Martha’s for all the love and comfort shared with Ernie and his family. We are forever grateful.
