It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, son, brother, father, and friend on March 1, 2024, at the age of 52. He fought a courageous short battle with cancer, surrounded by his family who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Born on June 12, 1971, in Halifax Ryan graduated from Millwood High School and went on to attend NSCC for Plumbing / Pipe Trades. He completed his blocks/levels to achieve his Red Seal in Plumbing, Pipefitter, and Steamfitter / Gas Fitter. He was a member of the UA Local 56, Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. He loved the path to become a journeyman and enjoyed being able to pass on knowledge and mentor apprentices who worked by his side. Ryan was a dedicated tradesman. He became part of the Atlantic Apprenticeship Advisory Committee (AAAC) and the Atlantic Trade Advisory Committee (ATAC) where he enjoyed the participation of trade trends, site challenges, exam questions and regulations while working toward the Red Seal Occupational Standard. He took great pride in being a part of the future of his trade. Safety was always his top priority. He was passionate about his work, was always positively contributing to organizational change and made many lifelong friendships.
Ryan is survived by his cherished wife and best friend of 29 years, Jennifer who stood by his side throughout this journey. He is also survived by his mother Belinda Goodwin-Collins and stepfather Christian Collins and father Alexander Skinner(Valorie). He will miss his beautiful daughters, Morgen, Olivia, and Mya. He is also survived by his sister Daphne Williamson and brother Dominique Skinner along with dearly loved nephew Jordan “JD” Collins-Morris and other nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents.
He was always a fighter and fought to the very end. He will be forever remembered and greatly missed. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at The Links at Brunello located at 120 Brunello Blvd, Timberlea, NS.
